Symbols and emoticons

The editor allows you to insert symbols and emoticons.

If your store is running on an older version of Prestashop or an upgrade was performed, it is possible that after inserting an emoticon in the editor, you will see, for example, a question mark “?” on the store side. The reason is the old encoding, which does not support this type of characters.

You need to make changes to the encoding of the relevant tables in the database - for example, product descriptions are in the product_lang table, cms pages in cms_lang, category descriptions in category_lang.

The required encoding is utf8mb4.
