After installing the module, the star product rating display stopped working in the theme.

This can happen if the theme used in the store does not use the standard PrestaShop solutions for displaying rating stars. In this case a conflict with the blog module can occur.
In this case, disable loading of the additional libraries for displaying rating stars on entries, in the blog settings:
