How to assign categories from the file to categories in the store?

If you don't want to import categories from the file as new categories but instead assign them to categories already existing in the store, go to step 4 of the import configuration (additional configuration), then go to the "match categories" tab, link the categories from the file with the categories in the store, and save the changes.
